To capture a precious moment, it is vital to understand its importance and personal sentiment to those in the photograph. Imagination has its own place in photography but it cannot be the sole driver of a composition. Sajib Paul understands that concept and lives in the moment of an event to capture what is to be the most cherished times of those he is photographing.
As a graduate of Anthropology from Dhaka University, understanding the diverse cultural backgrounds, people and sentiments was always his forte. With photography he could finally bring out the best of his talents. Working for the research Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK) as a Researcher, he had to go all around Bangladesh primarily as a Visual Anthropologist and photograph people and the environment they live in. Two of photo books, Climate Crisis and Community Resilience: Local Solution of Global Problem, and Climate Crisis: Story of Life, Story of Survivors, were internationally published by BARCIK and exhibited at the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in South Africa in December of 2011, and his work has been acclaimed by press and institutions worldwide.
Wedding photography however has been his life-long passion and he has been a wedding photography pioneer in Bangladesh for almost a decade. What makes Sajib Paul’s photography special is his ability to capture the most candid of moments, the littlest of details and the life of every wedding event to make it tell a story worth sharing for generations. Pictures tell a thousand words – a motto that he lives by and hence gives it his all to ensure quality photographs to cherish forever.
